Rent an Airshell to protect your baggage
If you are traveling with a baby or a small child, a pram or pushchair can be brought free of charge. Please note that DAT only covers any potential damage if the stroller has been in a so-called “Airshell” during transport.See more here → airshells.comHvis formularen ikke er synlig, klik på dette link for at udfylde formularen for beskadiget bagage.
Special baggage
Do you need to bring golf equipment, a surfboard, or skis on your trip? You can easily purchase these online when booking your ticket. Other special baggage must be booked through our customer service once you have purchased your flight ticket.
DAT considers the following items (among others) as special baggage:
- Prams, pushchairs, and car seats (can be brought free of charge without pre-booking).
- Wheelchairs, mobility scooters, and walkers/rollators.
- Sports equipment such as bicycles, surfboards, windsurfing sails, diving equipment, skis, golf equipment, and similar.
- Weapons: When transporting weapons, the bolt/breech block must be separated from the weapon itself and packed separately in the baggage. A maximum of 5 kg of ammunition in its original packaging may be brought. This must be declared at check-in.
All special baggage is sent on a standby basis. This means that regular checked baggage has first priority in the cargo hold. Therefore, in rare cases, space for special baggage may not be available.
It is your own responsibility to ensure that special baggage is packed in such a way that it does not break. DAT explicitly notes that you are responsible for any damage to fragile equipment sent as checked baggage.
If you wish to travel with special baggage, please contact DAT’s customer service for registration and payment once you have booked your ticket.
Delayed baggage
In the unfortunate event that your suitcase is delayed, your arrival airport will handle the search. The first thing you must do is inform our partners at the arrival airport. The airport staff will help you fill out a missing baggage report – a so-called Property Irregularity Report (PIR). Baggage reports can only be created at the arrival airport.
If your baggage is delayed for more than 8 hours on the outbound journey, you can get reimbursed for expenses for toiletries or other necessities up to 300 DKK. Please submit your receipts afterwards to kundeservice@dat.dk. If your baggage is delayed on the return journey, no expenses can unfortunately be reimbursed.
Please note that DAT does not cover perishable goods and that important personal belongings should be transported in your cabin baggage.
Damaged bagage
If your checked baggage has been damaged during the journey, you must fill out a so-called Damage Report (DPR) at the airport you arrived at. This must be done within 7 days of arrival. Upon presentation of the original purchase receipt, DAT applies a depreciation of 30% off the original purchase price for the first year and 10% for each subsequent year. If the original purchase receipt cannot be provided, compensation is limited to a maximum of 500 DKK. Please fill out the damaged baggage form, which you can find under “Baggage Insurance”.
Baggage insurance
For additional coverage, we recommend that you take out travel insurance and report the incident to them.
As an airline, our liability is limited in accordance with international legislation. Remember to keep all original receipts as well as your original baggage report.
