Children travelling alone
Your child will never travel alone when travelling with DAT.
Is your child travelling unaccompanied? Book an UM (Unaccompanied Minor) ticket to ensure that “junior” is accompanied by our attentive staff. They will also make sure your child has a great experience throughout the journey.
UM service:
- Your child is accompanied through the airport and all the way to the gate, where they are introduced to the cabin crew.
- The staff on the plane will supervise your child throughout the journey and make sure they feel safe.
- We ensure that your child is handed over to the right person at the destination, and we require to see photo ID before the child is handed over. The person picking up the child must be at least 16 years old.
Who can travel alone?
- For children between 5-11 years old, UM service is mandatory.
- For children between 12-15 years old, you may voluntarily choose UM service.
- Children under 5 years old must always be accompanied by a passenger aged 16 or older and cannot travel on UM tickets.
Before departure:
- You need to fill out a form (Handling Advice) for your child before traveling. Find the form here.
- When your child is traveling on a UM ticket, you must arrive at the airport and check in at least 60 minutes before departure.
- You or the person dropping the child off at the airport must stay at the airport until the plane is in the air.
- The person picking up the child must present a valid photo ID to pick up the child.
Infants
- Infants (0-24 months) who do not occupy their own seat travel free with an adult on all ticket types.
